Silas Mbedzi (Deputy Chairperson)
Silas Mbedzi was elected Deputy Chairperson of the Mvula Board of Trustees at the end of 2010. He possesses extensive management experience in the public and private sectors. Mbedzi’s most recently held positions are CEO at the Mhlathuze Water Board and the Chief Director: Institutional Oversight at the Department of Water Affairs. Before joining DWA, he was a director at CS Holdings. He has also worked as an associate director at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, where he was responsible for growing the local government market within the company. He has also occupied deputy director-general positions in the Gauteng (Department of Development Planning and Local Government) and Limpopo (Department of Land, Housing and Local Government) Provincial Governments. He has also worked at the Work Bank, the DBSA, the Johannesburg City Council and as a senior researcher at the University of Cape Town.
Mbedzi has qualifications from Harvard Business School, Wits University and post-graduate degrees from the University of Cape Town and the University of the North.
